SEASON 1
---------
1 - "In The Beginning" - Genki, a young Monster Rancher player, realizes his dream of entering the world of the Monsters. But he soon finds that his new world is threatened by an evil force which is taking over all of the monsters. He teams with a girl named Holly, a Suezo, and a baby Mocchi to try and find the Phoenix, the only thing which can turn the monsters good again.
2 - "I'm Mocchi!" - Genki is determined to raise Mocchi correctly. When he becomes concerned that their quest may be too dangerous for the baby monster, however, he decides to leave Mocchi with a local family. Mocchi, misunderstanding his intentions, decides that Genki doesn't care about him any more, and runs away.
3 - "Guardian of the Disks" - Genki and friends meet an "enigma", a Golem that does not like to fight. They invite him to join their quest, but when Moo's troops threaten the Golem's garden of Lost Disks, they discover a terrible secret about him.
4 - "Eternal Worm" - Genki and his friends encounter Alan, a young boy who is strict and cruel to his pet Worm. When he tries to ally with agents of Moo, however, he learns that loyalty is something that is given, not taken.
5 - "Tiger Of The Wind" - Genki meets the Tiger of the Wind, the leader of a pack of Tigers that escaped from their human "masters". His distrust of humans puts him at odds with Genki, but he is no friend of Moo's, either. When a troop of Dino's attack, Genki and the Tiger may find that they need each other.
6 - "Hare's Trick" - In need of money, Genki enters Tiger in a tournament. He comes very close to winning, but is tricked into dropping his guard by his final opponent, a Hare. Tiger is enraged by his loss, but the Hare seems to want to make it up to his new friends. Is this just another trick, as Tiger suspects, or is this shrewd con artist of a Hare someone that Genki and his team can trust?
7 - "The Courageous Seven" - Genki and his friends come across a beautiful valley, and a small village at the foot of a dam. When Moo's troops damage the dam, it looks like the town will be destroyed. Is Genki's unwillingness to give up foolishness, or courage?
8 - "After The Rain" - We learn of Holly's past, and how she came to be on the quest for the Phoenix, as she shares her story with Genki and the others on a miserable rainy day. The first of the great, deeply emotionally episodes that are the highlight of this series.
9 - "The Iron Bird" - Genki and the Searchers come across an "Iron Bird", a flying machine. Its owner used it to escape from the land on the other side of an impassable canyon. But the fugitive is running from the forces of Moo, and in order to save himself, he may have to betray his new friends.
10 - "The Ruin's Secret" - On the other side of the great canyon, the Searchers find a land ruled by Moo, where humans are forced to work as slaves. Overseeing the whole operation is a Pixie, a creature as hard and cold as she is beautiful. In trying to save the slaves, Genki and his friends fall into her trap, and the results are devastating.
11 - "Pixie's Defeat" - Left literally in a cliffhanger at the end of last episode, Genki shows that he can be beaten, but he can NEVER be defeated. He frees his allies and the slaves from Pixie's dungeon, but Pixie has plans of her own. Deep down, though, Pixie may not be the evil monster she makes herself out to be.
12 - "Monol's Story" - Our heroes get closer to their confrontation with Moo, as they unlock a Monol with a tale to tell. It tells them of a time in the distant past, when an advanced civilization created all of the monsters, including Moo and the Phoenix.
13 - "Moo Revealed" - The title says it all. Genki and his friends finally face Moo himself, and he is so powerful that they cannot stand against him. But when Moo takes Holly captive, and she discovers his true identity, the truth is almost too much for her to bear.
14 - "Holly Rescued" - With the help of Falcon and the Pirate Dragons, Genki mounts an assault on Moo's floating fortress. But Moo's revelations to Holly about her past have hurt her deeply. And in the end, the only thing that will save Genki is the unexpected arrival of an old friend.
15 - "A New Departure" - The Searchers reach the ocean, and hook up with a pirate captain, Horn, who has a ship that can get them across the sea. But first they must deal with a squad of Zuums, Horn's attraction to Holly, Suezo's distrust of Horn, and Golem's fear of the water.
16 - "Great Battle At Sea" - Gali, one of Moo's big four, calls on a group of Zillas to stop the Searchers. But the leader of the Zillas and Captain Horn have met before. Before the battle is over, Golem will have to face his fears, for Holly's sake.
17 - "Underground Adventure" - Tiger and Hare's rivalry finally comes to a head, when the group gets lost in an underground labyrinth, and Hare leaves them. But in the end, Hare's wits may be the only thing that can save them from the mind games of a Joker.
18 - "Our Friend Henger, Forever" - The Searchers discover an ancient city, perfectly preserved by Hengers. But the robot caretakers are programmed to prevent anyone from entering the city. When the Hengers take Holly's pendant, Genki and his friends must trust a malfunctioning Henger, who was banished from the city because of his free will, to find them a way inside.
19 - "Suezo's Secret Weapon" - Suezo is feeling down because he is the only one of the monsters who still doesn't have a special attack. Genki begins to train him, to little effect. But when a squad of Dokoos attacks, Suezo gets the chance to show what he can do.
20 - "My Name Is Pixie" - In my opinion, the best episode of the series. Pixie comes to Genki's rescue, when he is cornered by a group of Scaled Jells. But in the battle, she gets hurt. The proud monster finds that she must put aside her hatred of humans and work with Genki, if they are both to survive.
21 - "The Mocchi Cannon" - The Searchers finally confront Gali, the second of the Big Bad Four. He easily overcomes Genki and all of the monsters but Mocchi, leaving the baby monster as the only one who can save his friends.
22 - "Run, Tiger, Run!" - Holly is poisoned by the sting of a Black Worm, and Tiger has to race against time to get the berries needed to save her. But he has an even greater struggle waiting for him. The next of the Big Bad Four is none other than Gray Wolf, Tiger's own brother.
23 - "Don't Give Up, Ducken!" - When a group of Mocks capture the Searchers, Mocchi is once again the only one who can save them. He runs across a Ducken in the forest, who has been hiding from the Mocks. But can this self-confessed coward put aside his fear and help Mocchi?
24 - "Undine's Lake" - The Searchers take a much needed rest at the edge of a lake. There, Golem meets an Undine, and he and the water spirit seem to be soulmates. But Golem is afraid of water, and the Undine is working for Moo...
25 - "Warriors Of The Ruins" - Genki and his friends meet a trio of Centaurs, each of which are as powerful as the Big Bad Four. The Centaurs work for Moo, but they have a code of honor that Genki comes to respect. An excellent episode marred only by Hare acting totally out of character.
26 - "Melcarba" - Fleeing from a group of Beaclons, Genki and his friends stumble into another ruined Ancient city. Inside they find an Ancient war machine, and activate it. It easily defeats the Beaclons, but then it turns on the Searchers.
SEASON 2
---------
27 - "Tiger's Battle With Destiny" (Never aired in America) - Tiger finally confronts Gray Wolf, and only one of them can survive.
28 - "Color Pandora, Guardian Of The Forest" - A Color Pandora is using traps to defend his village from a Stone Dragon. Hare thinks that the monster is relying too much on his traps, and isn't prepared if one of his plans fails.
v29 - "Farewell, My Friend" - The Searchers need to cross a river, and enlist the aid of a barge captain who seems a lot like Genki in many ways. Arrowheads attack the boat, and in the battle, Genki learns something about himself and his new friend. An excellent episode.
30 - "Baby Bossy" - A waste of time episode which attempts to teach a lesson about cooperation, using two tribes of Apes.
31 - "Amusement Park Ruins" - A wonderful episode in which Genki and the monsters discover the ruins of an Ancient Amusement Park. The monsters are silly and funny, and the interplay between Genki and Holly is a Genki/Holly fan's dream come true. But the fun abruptly ends when a group of Kuros capture Mocchi.
32 - "Holly's Million Gold Smile" ("Holly's Smile Is A Million Golds") - A Niton claims to have the Mystery Disk of the Phoenix! Holly reluctantly trades her father's dagger for the disk. It turns out to be a fake, and Holly, afraid to let her friends know about her terrible secret, goes alone to reclaim the dagger. Another great episode.
33 - "Battle In The Meadow" - Naga sends the Tainted Cat Brothers after the Searchers, and they prove to be too much for Genki and his friends. Genki and Mocchi are separated, and meet Kato, the Ninja Master who trained the Tainted Cats.
34 - "The Town That Disappeared" - Naga sends a Bajarl after Genki and company, and the monster imprisons all of them but Holly and Mocchi. The two find themselves in an abandoned town, which has a history that involves the Bajarl. And Holly gets a chance to show how brave and resourceful she has become.
35 - "Battle With The Big Bad Four" (Never aired on Fox Family) - Naga is the last of the Big Bad Four, and with Pixie and Big Blue to help, the Searchers feel confident enough to raid Naga's tower. But it is Suezo and Holly who have a score to settle with the monster who destroyed their village.
36 - "Eve's Night" - The Big Bad Four are destroyed, but the Searchers' battle is far from over. As they pass through a town which seems strangely wary of visitors, Moo appears, in his new body. As Genki and the monsters confront their foe, a little girl gets caught in the middle. And Moo lets slip the terrible secret Holly has been hiding from her friends.
37 - "Holly's Happy Birthday" - With her father's identity revealed to the Searchers, in the last episode, Holly is feeling depressed. Suezo remembers that it is Holly's birthday, and Hare plans a surprise party for her. The monsters fall all over each other in their wish to make Holly happy, but it is Hare's present that is the most impressive. An excellent episode.
38 - "Evil General Durahan's Challenge" - Durahan, Moo's General in charge of the invasion to the East, is summoned to deal with the Searchers. He sends an Endbringer to destroy them. The monsters are easily defeated, and Genki is hurt. But Holly shows that she is not only strong, but willing to sacrifice everything to save Genki.
39 - "Goodbye Baku" - Escaping from a Chariot sent after them by Durahan, Genki befriends a Baku in the forest. Genki is worried that the dumb brute will get hurt by their enemies, but it turns out that the Baku has a score to settle with Chariot.
40 - "The Secret Of Holly's Magic Stone" - Colt, the assistant from Monster Rancher 2, makes an appearance as an explorer. She has discovered some ruins of the Pendant civilization, the ancient people who created Moo, the Phoenix, and Holly's Pendant Stone. But when a Metal Jell and an army of Knight Mocchis attack, they make another discovery, one that will effect the monsters deeply.
41 - "Tiger Meets His Match" ("Tiger's Last Day") - Lilim holds a baby hostage, in order to force a Jagd Hound to attack the Searchers. Tiger tries to stop him, and to the horror of Genki and his friends, the Jagd Hound returns with Tiger's Lost Disk.
42 - "The Warriors From Outer Space" - Durahan sends a squad of Astros after the Searchers. The monsters were used as slave labor on a space ship, and when Genki finds that ship, he discovers why the Astros hate humans so much. A powerful, thought provoking episode.
43 - "Renocraft, Slayer In The Sand" ("The Sand Assassin, Renocraft") - Mocchi and Genki are fighting over a trivial matter, and the little monster is determined to go it on his own. Their tiff works to the advantage of a Renocraft, which traps them with its ability to travel underneath the sand.
44 - "Magic Stone Mayhem" ("Scramble For The Pendant Stone") - With the help of an army of Gangsters and a Weed sent by Moo, Lilim tries to take the Pendant Stone from Holly. Hare comes up with a cunning (if a little disturbing) plan to evade the Gangsters, but Lilim turns out to be a step ahead of them. Once she has the stone, however, she turns on her own allies.
45 - "The End Of Durahan" ("Durahan Dies At Daybreak" combined with "Magic Stone Mayhem" on Fox Family) - Durahan returns to Moo with the Pendant Stone. But he turns on his master, hoping to take his place as leader of the baddies. Moo turns out to be too strong for his former General, and sends him running with the stone, giving the Searchers one last chance to recover it.
46 - "Jill's Icy Secret" ("Of War And Hate") - Genki and his friends, still following the last direction given them by the stone, come upon a village of Jills. Their leader tells the Searchers of the Cinder Bird, a legendary Phoenix who sacrificed itself to stop a great evil. As the Searchers ponder what they are willing to give up, the Jill shows them his secret - the frozen body of the Phoenix!
47 - "Tears" - As Moo descends upon them, Genki and the Searchers try desperately to keep their enemy away from the Phoenix. The arrival of Pixie brings them a little hope, but it is soon dashed. By the end of the episode, Pixie will be gone, Big Blue will have made the ultimate sacrifice, and the meaning of the title of this emotional episode will be painfully clear.
48 - "Blue Skies" - Crushed by the devastating losses of the last episode, and with Moo about to destroy the world in his madness, the Searchers learn from Monol the secret of the Phoenix. But can Genki give up his friends, in order to revive their only hope?
SEASON 3
---------
50: Return to Monster Rancher
It has been one year since Genki left the Monster world and now he's back home, going about his rather mundane old life. But when Genki catches a glimpse of Mocchi in the city, he follows him to an odd looking, and seemingly abandoned, toy store. Inside he finds a strange version of the newest Monster Rancher game. Playing the disk, Holly appears on-screen. Genki discovers that Muu and the Phoenix's souls were separated from their (destroyed?) bodies once again after the battle one year ago. Holly set out to find her five friends, eventually coming across Mocchi. The pair then discovered a strange mystery disk with Muu's symbol on it - stranger still Holly can hear her father's voice from inside the disk. But before either can decide what to do with the disk, they are attacked by Baddies. Mocchi's cry for help enables Genki to travel back to their world.
Together again, the three decide to set out and find their old friends.

The group return to the town where they battled for the rookie cup (earlier on in the series). Tiger is one of the five types of monsters allowed to battle in the match, so he signs up alongside Mocchi, with Genki as coach. Later that evening Tiger is reunited with his brother, Gray Wolf. Gray Wolf is accompanied by Nina, the girl who unlocked him, and her monster Hopper. Both are overjoyed at seeing each other again. As the group set up camp together, Nina explains that she discovered Gray Wolf's mystery disk whilst training in the mountains with Hopper. It's then revealed that the trio have also entered the Legendcup tournament.
Later that night, Gray Wolf awakens, sensing that Tiger has wandered from the camp. He finds his brother watching the moon on a high dale. They talk for a while and Gray Wolf admits he is at a loss at what to do. He wants to help Nina, her being the first human who has shown him kindness, but he does not want to fight his own brother in the tournament. Tiger replies that he and Gray Wolf are not real brothers, that they only happened to be abandoned in the same box and when they meet in the ring, they will be enemies.
The first match the following day ends in a draw when Mocchi and Hopper knock each other out of the ring. Tiger and Gray Wolf follow on and neither appear to hold back as the battle begins. However, when Tiger finds an opening in Gray Wolf's defence, he cannot bring himself to attack and is instead caught by Gray Wolf's lightning. The match is interrupted by Weed, General Durahan's loyal servant, who attacks them in a desperate move to steal Muu's mystery disk. Tiger blocks an attack aimed at Gray Wolf and blasts the Weed through a wall.
Gray Wolf asks Tiger why he defended him if he believes they are enemies. Tiger explains that they will always be brothers and that he only said those harsh words so that Gray Wolf would keep his feelings out of the match.
The match resumes, with Tiger ultimately winning. Later in the evening the two groups gather at the edge of town, ready to say their farewells and Nina challenges Genki to a rematch in the next Legendcup tournament. Tiger simply smiles at Gray Wolf then turns to leave without saying goodbye. He explains to his friends that he can him whenever he wants because they are brothers and Gray Wolf will always remain in his heart.
